Diabetes Department provides comprehensive service across all areas of diabetes and endocrinology. Diabetes and endocrine team includes consultants, diabetes educators, dietician, onsite podiatry foot care, and on-site retinal screening team. Service is supported by on-site phlebotomy service.Unique cases being treated include X-linked hypophosphataemic rickets, autosomal recessive Vitamin D hydroxylation-deficient rickets type 1A (VDDR1A), pregnancy associated osteoporosis, polyostotic fibrous dysplasia and other rare types of secondary osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases.Specialist & dedicated thyroid cancer service is delivered in the setting of multidiscipliary team including endocrinologists, pathologist, nuclear medicine, radiologists, ENT surgeons.The department also provides sub-specialist services in investigating and managing endocrine hypertension and adrenal disorders.Technologies in treating T1DM are widely used to enhance patients’ care and improve quality of life (including state-of-the-art automated insulin delivery pumps and real-time CGM).
